Everything I know about life & more: A coloring book

Aaaand to beging the year with hugely massive exciting news, I just released my first coloring book on Amazon ! I have no words to tell how excited I am about this. (by the way here is the link: GET BOOK )

While spending a few months with my family in Argentina, a conversation about my art and website came up during lunch time. At some point I said I should create a coloring book and well, turns out my little sister is a soon-to-be graphic designer and so she got right into making it happen. Really, nothing could have happened without her, so I'm super thankful. We got together trying to decide which drawings were going to make the cut and ended up picking 28 from the already created ones, plus two that would have needed to be drawn in the coming days. These were all drawings from the last three years, since I started my instagram account and my current website.

At the same time, I came to know about Amazon KDP: an amazing platform where you cannot just publish your eBooks in a very simple matter but also they'll do all the work to get your paperback book ready. So I created and account, got the templates downloaded and after one month the book was ready to ship (or upload :P ) on February 8th!

This has been the best possible start of the year and cannot wait for future projects!

PS: I have also made a bunch of changes on my website recently such as adding a brand new menu, merging the inktober section into the Ink section (and removing some doodles I didn't like) + creating a new section for the book itself.

Til next time!

Home is nowhere

Given how often I post on this blog, this will be the last post of 2020. And what a year it's been! I'm sure everyone loved it. I have just left my apartment in Seattle and flew to my home country of Argentina to stay here for a few months. But that's the catch, I'm technically homeless right now... or nomad, whatever you wanna tag it.

So given that, I do not have my Wacom tablet and I'm just left with a sketch block, my laptop and a few ink pens here which I've been using to draw whenever I get bored of work. Once I get a new place in a few months (probably) and get my setup running again, I'll go back to digital art. I do have the time now to make a bunch of improvements to my site though, since I'm not wasting my time watching many TV shows and such. Should I start over and make comic strips?

I've been realizing life had just got too bad and boring this year and needed to make a radical change, so that's it for now but we'll see where this journey takes me. For the time being, I hope everyone is safe and just feel free to reach out with suggestions! I know not many people read this blog but maybe one day, who knows?

Happy new year, let's hope the next one is at least 1% better :)

Escuadron 37 in HD

After a long time trying to figure out the best way to do it, while being locked inside this weekend thanks to the Californian smokes here in Seattle, I managed to convert all episodes of Escuadron 37 in HD and upload them to Youtube. This should've been done long long ago and never got around doing it. Those days are gone and now everyone can enjoy them on HD! The episodes are in Argentine Spanish and will work on adding proper subtitles in English.
I have also got 5 minutes ready for the final episode, but as I mentioned before, it'll be a long run since its script is massive. But once it's done, it'll wrap up this series deep story (?
If you haven't, go check out my site as always, since I've been uploading on a daily basis after I got back from my trip to Yellowstone (I guess the one best thing about this horrible year :S).

Summer at the cave

Well it's almost the start of the summer and as I added a few nice tweaks to the site, I thought to myself it's been a while since I blogged. The quarantine is finally slowing down or I'm somehow more used to it or I'm just going crazier by being locked down inside. At least I got one of those inflatable kayaks to spend my free time at the lake whenever there's sun outside. On the other side, things have been okay I guess:
* I haven't been drawing as much as I was expecting but it's still been alright. I've just added a new "under construction" section called Ink, which I'll be most likely filling up this weekend with all those inky artworks I usually upload to Instagram and nowhere else. If I'm adventurous enough, I'll
also dig into my bag of old drawings and upload some more surprises too. As usual, Instagram is where my most up to date things are but from now on that gap will be smaller and smaller, because of this new section.
* The doodles section has been renamed to Digital! I know, comics I make are also digital but that does not mean one day I'll go back to hand-draw some comics :)
* Migrated all of the artworks from png to jpg format and now the site is super fast to load. Of course, the quality got slightly downgraded but it's worth it, trust me!
* Still need to get back to the Escuadron 37 final episode, I've been a total lazy bastard and I'm sorry for that.
I've also been thinking about ways to increment my followers on Instagram and Twitter, if you have any recommendations please let me know!
And finally:
* I changed the navigation buttons once again because I really hated the second wave I had created. Hopefully this third one is here to stay and I won't be adding more sections for a while I guess
(or will I?)

Stay healthy people!

Quarantined

Hi dear blog, it's certainly been a while as always. As many of you must know, I live in the Seattle area which has recently become the ground-zero american city for the virus -- I'm sick of hearing about it so I won't even mention it. So working from home has pretty much become the only option these days, I've been mainly locked at home and barely leaving every two or three days for a few hours.

I've been trying to write more comic strips and uploading them to Instagram. Been thinking about creating a new section for the web exclusively for Comics and also upload the Inktober 2019 masterpieces (?). Those are a big due. Otherwise it's been a slow start of the year, I'm really hoping to get the last episode of Escuadron 37 ready eventually (last time I checked it was at about 4 minutes).

And oh yeah, I've been mainly using Clip Studio these days for doodles and comics, I've been really enjoying it. You can actually notice that in the last 7 or 8 artworks I uploaded, you can see the watercolor trace and how it differs from what I was doing before (Adobe Animate). I think I'll keep going on this path and just leave Adobe Animate exclusively for animation purposes.

If I survive the virus, you'll hear back again from me for sure :)
Don't forget to follow me on social media since it's usually sliiiightly more updated than my website, although I try to keep everything in synch as much as possible.

Site back online!

After dealing with a lot of struggle as I said in my previous post, two days ago I was able to re-upload my site with a well formatted nodejs / react structure. The look and feel is exactly as before except for a few added things and some missing ones (but barely). It took me several tries but I finally got it uploaded and decided to go for Heroku as my web-app host.
There is a web icon and a few other small extra things plus three new art works (finally catching up on my Instagram account). I'll be adding an infinite scroller to avoid loading so many images at once (specially in the Sketches section since it's getting huge) and hopefully Spanish support! Yep, it's been a while since I had my site in Spanish. We've got a few snowy days coming up here in Seattle so I'll see if I can catch up on these tasks.
I'm also back to the last episode of Escuadron 37, so far there's almost 5 minutes done for it but it's going to be a very long ride unfortunately (but hopefully worth it in the end!).

Be good people! Til next time .-

What's going on?

As I'm typing this it's 8 am on Saturday 12/14 but somehow I remembered I had a blog still existing. I still wonder how many people read blogs these days and in fact how many read mine. Based on visit stats to my website I don't think too many. But let's get started here...

What's going on in the life of Andres / Okcerk ? Things have not change much in this last year I gotta say, regardless some personal issues, I've had some fun working on Inktober once again and started sketching using ClipStudio which combined with my Wacom Cintiq brings pretty good results. I'm still due on finishing the Escuadron 37 final episode which so far it's got about 3 / 4 minutes in. The script is quite long and I still haven't wrapped up the ending but I feel like it'll eventually happen. I won't die without this episode being released :)

As always, my most recent works can be found on Instagram: @okcerk.
Regarding my website: I'm actively working on refactoring the whole code structure with a final goal of reaching a wider audience. If you didn't know, the current site was written in just one weekend and it achieved what I needed, however I had a few restrictions and now I'm doing the proper job to have it nicely done (yes, if you didn't know, I'm a software engineer and still code on a daily basis). I'm always a few works behind on my website, that's why I recommend following me on Instagram for the most up to date doodles.

I've also done some travelling as every year, in fact I just came back from a trip to India. I've been uploading travel photos to a new Instagram account: @okcerk_ (yes. a very original name).

Finally, I'm currently in research of a nice 2D animation school that hopefully does online courses. So if you happen to know of one, please reach out to me!

Alright, time for some breakfast.- Til next time!

The Year of Nobody

I have to admit, every time I write here is mainly because I forgot to do it and somehow something reminds me I have a blog. It is almost ...
